The Curious

I wonder about how to integrate design into my work. To be honest, I am still unsure about how this is actually any different from what we already do.

Relevant Resources

I have heard a lot about design, and I am curious to learn what it can contribute to my projects. However, I have not had a chance to try it out in any of my work and would like to know if and how I can do this. I want resources that help me understand the value of design, how it’s unique and how it can work with existing global health approaches.

My needs

  • To appreciate how the application of design to change behavior differs from other approaches that I am familiar with

  • To determine how design complements other approaches and integrates into already structured programs and activities

  • To know the benefits of using design

  • To consider the limitations and tradeoffs with using design

My struggles with design

The biggest challenge is that there isn’t an easy way this fits into the project management structures of development programs.”

“It’s really hard to create that budget in a very detailed work plan if you won’t know what your intervention is for months.”

“I was not able to understand the initial proposal. I had to read it several times.”

“People are scared of the timescale.

My questions

  • How do I use it?

  • How do I combine it with what I already do?

  • How have others used it already?

  • What do I look for in a designer? / How do I choose who to work with?

My Requirements

I need tools that can tell me how design can bring unique value to my work and how I can use it with what I already do.
